We are allowed under our MNZ certification to operate at 23T. Generally speaking, a truck & trailer load can be barged as one load.
-
MV Waimaro is self-propelled and works the job site on her own.
-
Waimaro has two spuds, which can be independently lowered into the bottom substrate; maintaining position. The spuds can also be operated to assist in precision movements of the barge or βcrabbingβ sideways.
-
Waimaro has a hydraulically-lifting stern drive. The drive can be raised or lowered to the optimum height for operational water depth. Under a βnormalβ trim, the barge draws about 650mm.
-
We have a deck-mounted Tadano 504 crane. As a βrule of thumbβ, we can lift 1T at maximum crane radius (& more weight closer in).
-
Waimaro has two cooling systems and is able to continue using her hydraulics to operate the crane, even when the barge is fully aground and the tide has completely retreated.
-
We have a very good understanding of coastal permit rules and can help you navigate the council planning requirements. We can also suggest specialists, if you require; we have a network of planners & engineers who can advise on detailed submissions.
-
Yes. MV Waimaro is in MNZ approved survey and we have a current MTOC (Maritime Transport Operatorβs Certificate). We carry general liability insurance, as well as vessel insurance.
-
We have experience in marine work, going back more than forty years. This includes offshore commercial diving/supervision, management of steel fabrication shop, offshore barge superintendent, super yacht project management of a build, mooring build/inspections and more than twenty years building jetties in the Bay of Islands and Northland.
-
The barge is able to transit the coast on her own bottom or can be shipped on a road transporter; for instance, the barge has been trucked to work in Hokianga Harbour.
